About the organisation

Our group is for people diagnosed with colorectal cancer who were or are being treated at Yeovil District Hospital NHS Foundation Trust or those who have moved into our area. We had our first exploratory meeting in August 2006 at St Margaret’s Hospice, Yeovil and continue to meet here. The Hospice is ideal for our meetings with excellent facilities for presentations by our guest speakers; access to a lift and disabled toilets. Our membership includes patients and carers and is open to all ages. We have members with stomas, members who have had successful reversions and others who did not need formation of a stoma in their treatment. We have members who are up to 17 years from diagnosis and others who are part way through or just starting their treatment. Many of our members have returned to work following successful treatment and are unable to attend our monthly meetings but keep in touch via our meeting minutes; web site; telephone calls and our Annual Dinner, Cream Tea Afternoon and Bowel Cancer awareness events.
